Rhys is co-owned with his breeder, Shawna Garrettson, of Kalara Siberians. I made the mistake of CASUALLY MENTIONING wanting a red boy next, with no immediate plans of getting another puppy, as my older boy at the time, Royal, was 13 and we already had 5 dogs. Little did I know, she had a red boy puppy on the ground at that moment! And I think we all know how that went. :)
Rhys has been such a fun addition to the family. He is extremely drivey, more so than any of my previous Siberians. He is also extremely food motivated and had natural handler focus from puppyhood. He is more into toys than any of my other Sibes, and often will toss a toy around, essentially playing catch by himself.
Rhys is a very easy-going dude, always happy, and totally unflappable. He rarely has conflict with other dogs, if he does it is another intact male and usually only fleeting or at first meeting. More often than not he chooses not to argue, and he never holds a grudge. He is also one of my best dogs with puppies, despite his frat-house/wrestle-mania style of play!
Because I didn't "plan" to get him when I did, our goals were only conformation-related to start. He has also done quite a bit of all-breed lure coursing (from ASFA LCI, to AOK9, to AKC's Fast CAT & CAT) and is close to a title in every venue. But now that he has his CH and has matured a lot, we are beginning other sports that we have only just dabbled in previously. Our goals for 2024 include finishing his GCH, finishing his DCAT & CAA titles, doing more LCI and AOK9, start trialing in NASDA, and getting serious about training for Nose Work! I also would like to start agility training with him, maybe in the spring.
